Very few people in life are fortunate enough to have a portrait commisioned on their behalf. A commissioned portrait of a loved one is a unique and thoughtful gift and should be treated very seriously with special attention paid to the style and quality of the artist's skills.
Full Figure Oil portrait commissions start at $3,00.
Head and Chest Oil portrait commissions start at $1,500.
Pet Oil portrait pricing is dependent on quality of reference materials and finished size.
Sizes of the finished painting and environment objects will determine the price. These objects take additional time to render, but they enhance the overall personality and character of the composition and should be strongly considered.
General commissions would include a head and shoulders closeup, approximately 16x20. An example of a higher priced Full Figure commission (larger than 24x30) would be for a subject(s) to be seated within an environment, surrounded by objects that have special meaning (flowers, books, chair, stuffed animal, baseball gloves, wedding dress, etc).
Portrait commission appointments are initially arranged via telephone to determine general portrait qualities, completion time, and ballpark pricing.
Appointments are to be conducted at Client's location or at the Artist's studio. At the first meeting, the CLIENT will provide quality, in-focus photographs or arrange for a photo session. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at this time.
Portrait Qualities discussed will include composition, size, general palette colors, supplied photographs and completion timeframe estimates. Each oil portrait painting will be completed on a stretched, primed canvas or belgium linen, and protected with a damar varnish.
Portrait Sitting is conducted at the CLIENT's location or at the Artist's studio. The portrait is then painted in the Artist's studio. Please note that I create portraits in "my artistic style" and I do not accept a commission to "copy" another artist style. I draw and paint realistically so I am confident that your finished portrait will accurately capture the subjects likeness from the supplied photos.
Completion Time of Portraits require 6-8 weeks, however, time may vary according to complexity of work and number of commissions previously accepted. When the painting is complete, the client will have a chance to review it and request any reasonable minor changes. Upon acceptance of the portrait, the final varnish will be applied and the balance of the fee is due in full. No exceptions.
