Artists have been painting athletes for centuries. Capturing the essance of the sport as well as the athlete in the moment of the sport that defines them. Daniel Roberge started his career painting realistic portraits for a distrubutor of the Major League Baseball Players Association’s apparel line. As an avid sports enthusiast it was a natural fit to combine his passions for both painting and sports in one creative outlet.
Painting popular athletes for the Merchandising market is a unique skill all its' own, as the artist must have the skills to paint and render the athletes in a manner where they are recognizable.
From the recent oil painting of David Ortiz to the earlier airbrush works depicting leading athletes Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neil, Dan Marino, Ken Griffey Jr., and Frank Thomas when they dominated their sports, Daniel Roberge has consistently displayed his talent and range for rendering athletes in various mediums.
